The Signs of our Times
Ghoul Ghouls are hated and reviled across the entire globe, mostly due to their undead nature and their habit of eating those they kill. Ghouls were created by the failed Project Lazarus, a U.N. project to animate dead tissue and restore those killed by the N’ss of NI day. It was a partial success, they succeed in animating dead tissue, but not in the way they had intended, their experiments created both mindless zombies, and self aware Ghouls. The station was overrun by the undead, and when the Ghouls had eaten their fill of human flesh, they found that they could force the rest of the living to their knees if they simply gave their undead horde a push in the right direction… However the Ghoul’s plan for an undead world was stopped at Quebec and the Canadian Fringe. Now, the ghouls wander the wastes of Canada and the northern U.S. Ghouls find it almost impossible to fit in with the rest of the world of the living. Personality: Ghouls tend to take a dim view of the world, often believing that they are the next step in the evolution of mankind, and that others must convert, or be used as food. Languages: Ghouls read, write, and speak Terran and any languages they knew in life (talk to your GM about who you were in your life). Ghoul Racial Traits Medium: As Medium creatures, Ghouls suffer no bonuses or penalties due to size. Undead: Ghouls are immune to disease, poison, radiation, critical hits, blood loss, torture, death from massive damage, cold and electricity damage. Ghouls also cannot become a member of the Genefreak class nor gain any mutations. Uncontrollable Hunger: Whenever a ghoul scores a critical hit or is within line of sight of a helpless creature, he must make a DC 20 will save or begin to feed on the creature in question. The ghoul can take no action but feast of the hapless creature for 1d4 rounds, at the end of the indicated rounds, the creature is dead. Short Life Span: Since a ghoul is a rotting corpse, he has a lifespan of only thirty years, as the process that made him a ghoul retards the decomposition process, and the end of the thirty years, the ghoul simply rots away. Dead Like Me: All zombies view the ghoul to be one of their own, and have a starting attitude of indifferent.
